More Mormon Beliefs
Agency – Agency, also called free will or free agency, is an important part of Mormon doctrine.
Atonement of Jesus Christ – Before the beginning of the world, Jesus Christ was chosen to be our Savior, chosen to redeem us from our sins.
Mormon Baptism – One of the beliefs of Mormonism is that baptism is the gateway to salvation.
Book of Mormon – The Book of Mormon is probably the most well known of Mormon scriptures. Mormons present it as another testament of Christ which stands beside the Bible as a testimony of Him.
Charity – Mormons believe charity is love – and not the merely romantic or friendly love, but the pure love of Christ.
Chastity – Mormons believe that the power to have children is a sacred one that should not be abused or misused.
Church Organization- The organization of the Mormon church and its leaders
Faith – Faith involves more than belief – it involves hope. It involves more than believing in Christ . . . it involves believing Him when He promises forgiveness and salvation.
Mormon Families – Unity, spiritual strength, and equal partnership between husband and wife. The most important unit of society is the family.
The Mormon Fast – A period of fasting (going without food and water) should also be a period of purposeful, fervent prayer.
Forgiveness – We should seek forgiveness from the Lord through repentance and prayer, and forgive all those who hurt or offend us.
Gifts of the Holy Ghost- Through baptism and confirmation, one can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
The Godhead - “We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.” (Articles of Faith)
Life of Jesus Christ – He was the Savior, the Messiah, and his life was lived perfect as an example to all men.
Obedience – Obedience precedes blessings. And the Lord cannot guide us if we do not obey him.
Plan of Salvation- the Plan of Salvation tells us where we have been, who we are, what our purpose is, and where we are headed.
Prayer – Prayer is our communication with our Heavenly Father — ask for blessings and guidance . . . and give gratitude.
The Priesthood – Mormons believe the priesthood is the power and authority of God. The heavens and the earth were created by the Lord’s priesthood power.
Repentance – After we have developed faith in Jesus Christ and understood why we are here, and that there is more than this life, we will have a desire to repent.
Sacrifice- Mormons believe that Christ gave the ultimate sacrifice when he atoned for the sins of the world. We are also expected to follow his example and sacrifice as well.
Sacrament- Every Sunday, Mormons partake of the sacrament to remember Jesus Christ and to renew their covenants
Service- Mormons believe in engaging in service
The Sabbath – On the Sabbath, we are not only to rest from our labors, but remember that the Lord did indeed sanctify the day – it is sacred.
Testimony- A personal revelation from God, revealing the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Tithing- Mormons belive in paying a one-tenth tithe to show faith and devotion
Word of Wisdom-Mormons believe in abstaining from alcohol, tea, drugs, and other substances that can be harmful to the body.
